I learned that if you want to go to college then it is very important that you know what you are going to do in order to pay for college. There are many strategies so that you have more money to pay for college. One thing I can do is apply for scholarships. That would save me some money so that I could pay for college. I can also use federal student aid. I see a lot of students that are getting ready to go to college use this. It is very helpful and will save you money for college. I also want to make sure that I am ready for college as well. College will be a huge step in my life. The main thing that is important to me is making sure I have a lot of responsibility. Responsibility is a big thing in life, and you will need throughout your adulthood. Even after going to college I will still need to be responsible because I will be grown, and I want to be successful. Even though I am still young now I still have to have some type of responsibility even today. Responsibility is one of the most important thing a citizen should have and I am going to carry that throughout my whole life. I for sure want to go to college. I am not sure what for right now, but I have many things in mind right now, and I feel like I have to look more into what I want to do. I really want to be a journalist, an entrepreneur, or I want to look into sports medicine. I am looking into college right now, because that will be a huge step in my life. I want to be a successful man, and in order to do that I have to work hard.

    1. I agree that responsibility is very important. When it comes to planning for college, you need to have the initiative to get things done and ask for help when you need it. People are willing to help you, but they won't know when you do, so you need to stay on top of deadlines.

The FAFSA is your ticket to the financial aid arena. Submitting it puts you in charge of receiving financial assistance, including federal grants, work-study opportunities, student loans, and some state and school-based aid. You don't have to wait until you're a high school senior to continue your scholarship hunt. In fact, it could have paid to start earlier. Paying for education is going to be massively simpler if you pick a school that is well priced for you. To avoid straining your bank account, consider starting a community college or technical school. College job checks several boxes: it offers money, work experience, and potentially useful contacts. The Federal Work-Study Program provides part-time work for college students with financial needs.

I wish i could redo a lot of things to make things so much easier for me. As a first generation student I didnt have that background support to guide me in planning in scholrships and it was a lot to hand personally. High school is somthing I learned a lot from and wish i could fix. I hope your scholarship journey goes well remember to plan and think about the pay off.

The net cost of a college is one of the most important things to consider when selecting a college, and there are three types that vary in price. Community colleges are the most affordable, while private schools are generally twice as expensive as public schools. It is also important to apply for financial aid by completing FAFSA, which calculates your Expected Family Contribution. With this, colleges will decide how many need-based scholarships to give you, and you can receive aid from the state. You can also receive merit and athletic based scholarships, which are given to students who play a sport or show to be skilled in a certain area like playing an instrument. After you have been accepted, you will be sent a financial aid report by the college and it will tell you exactly how much you will have to pay. If you need to know beforehand, you can use a net price calculator, but remember that they may not be reliable. Other things to consider for college are your SAT scores and challenging courses (like AP classes). They can help you get more financial aid, and be accepted by more selective schools. The website I chose gives advice about taking online college classes, since we do not know what is in store in the future.

    1. Jessica Ledesma- I loved your response I think it was very well written. When thinking about your response the future thing you brought up was very important to consider. As a fellow senior going to collge I know how much corona has impacted everythihng in regards to classes. I COMPLETELY agree with the safety precaustions nobody lives should be in danger. This has led to possbile push back of year or online classes with nothing certain next year and some colleges already commiting to onine atleast in fall. This changes a lot. STudents in out grade have to consider whetheer the tuition is worth it with the college cost rising but is online classes worth it. So many people have to consider how they want to start ollege possibly with questions on next year not being able to be given out. People are considering for hte first time gap years or community college maybe youlls like this article https://www.marketplace.org/2020/05/14/many-high-school-seniors-in-the-class-of-covid-are-rethinking-their-college-plans/ how has it impacted you

  5. Jessica Ledesma 4th period - College is one of the biggest decisions in most peoples live with many intricate factors regarding whether you are going, where you are going and so on. People learn so much during college educationally and personally. I should also state how college is one of the most expensive decisions in somebody's life.  When considering your campus you have to consider the type of college, you will attend and what your college experience will look like with so much variety including public, private, community. When looking at your college you have to consider what is affordable for your family and you in the long terms with college tuition quickly skyrocketing. Different colleges have variable amounts of support for students and researching a college financial support and how much average debt a graduate leaves with is important to understanding what will be the best educational and financial choice for you. College tuition can be paid in multiple ways including paying the full tuition and fees during the college year, which can be done with savings from family members, grants, scholarships, and loans. Loans is a common type of helping afford college as students can borrow money but should think of before accepting such loans. Depending on the type of loans the student takes out, the interest and length of duration of payment can change regarding the students situation and what they apply for. With federal student loans you can end up paying on fixed intervals depending on how much they owe or if you struggle with the with paying, you can try to see if you can alter your payments methods depending on situation including changing loans based on financial situation or delaying your loans with deferment or forbearance which can end up costing you more but helping you support yourself at the moment. Make sure you understand the long-term impacts of your payments as it can end up hurting you in the long term. When considering college and loans consider how much debt you’ll end up with and if you are willing to make that payment in regards to starting your career and salary. Student now are struggling more than ever with college tuition as the cost of college increases rapidly with salary just not being to keep up keeping students especially future in long term debt according to forbes “Prices of College Increasing Almost 8 Times Faster Than Wages.” How much debt is possible in our life with everything just increasing but wages not being supportive or representing why. "It’s no surprise that student loans now make up the largest chunk of U.S. non-housing debt. Yes, more than both credit cards or auto loans.” This impacts the rest of of our life savings and how we live once we get a job. Make sure you are able to support yourself in the future.
Personally, as a senior I am planning on Penn State and studying business. The concept of interest me and I think is something that will always be necessary out society runs on our economy and business which allows everything to function. I think learning this will always be necessary and hopefully I am able to find a job that is supprtive. I am planning on doing a masters degree with a program at penn state but still decinding on whether I will further with grad school after finding work for some time or not. Going to Penn State is no cheap decision. I am still working on how to pay for college with two in my family attending college next year being extremely hard as I will most likely have less support as the middle child. Throughout the reading and my year I have learned how important time planning for scholarships is. Every rally does help make it  slightly more possible.

When planning and saving for college it is important to consider the fact the the costs can vary. Keep in mind that it is also important to plan ahead of time. I say this because the longer you invest in saving money for college, the better. Another thing to consider is if you want to go to a public or private school. Public schools rely on funding's from their state while private schools rely on tuition and donation.
The Tuition at private colleges is definitely much higher. Lets compare the prices below...
    Public: Private:
    Average 4/y cost-$10,230 Average 4/y cost: $35,830
    (for in state students)

You must know your goal (career choice):
What I mean by this is that it is important to know what you want to become whether it may be a photographer or even a Doctor. If you know that to be able to reach your goal you need to complete more than the average 4 years of college, that is something you need to plan way beforehand. It will help tremendously in the long run.

What can I do If I start saving for college late?
    Here are a few options:
    - If you work, find ways to trim up your budget.
    - If you receive money as a Birthday/Christmas gift, save it.
    - You can start at a two year community college. There you can earn credits at a fraction of the cost of a four year program. After two years, you can transfer those credits to a 4 year school of your choice.

  9. A net cost of a school is one of the most significant interesting points while choosing a school, and three sorts of change in cost. Junior colleges are the most moderate, while non-public schools are twice as costly as government-funded schools. It is additionally essential to apply for money related guide by finishing FAFSA, which computes your Expected Family Contribution. You can likewise get merit and athletic-based grants, which are given to understudies who play a game or demonstrate to be gifted in a specific zone like playing an instrument. After you have been acknowledged, you will be sent a money related guide report by the school and it will reveal to you the amount you should pay. If you have to know previously, you can utilize a net value mini-computer, however, recollect that they may not be dependable. Different interesting points for school are your SAT scores and testing courses (like AP classes). 11. College is a very expensive option in someones life. Unless you come from a wealthy family, you have to come up with a way to earn money and a plan to ensure that you can afford and steadily keep up with the financial burden. There are many systems set up to help young teens who are trying to save up to go to school for something they are passionate about. Many students apply for loans. Loans are helpful but you could end up paying a loan for decades after you graduate which is something you probably do not want to do, I know I wouldn't. Along the way in college you can also earn yourself scholarships and enter to compete for them throughout your college career. People who are not as financially stable can also apply for financial aid which will cover some of the cost.
